The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) suggests CBT for:
- Depression
- Generalised Anxiety
- OCD
- Self Harm
- Binge Eating
- Anorexia
- Social Anxiety
CBT focuses on how your thoughts (cognitions) affect your feelings and actions. It recognises and challenges negative thoughts that perpetuate the problems you experience. The objective of cognitive behavioural therapy is for you to experience healthier thoughts and emotions.
Counselling
NICE suggests counselling for:
- Depression
Counselling centres on listening to you, and assisting you. You determine which issue regarding your early years and/or adulthood you discuss. An objective of counselling is to enable you to speak about a difficulty and discover a way forward which is appropriate for you.
Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy focuses on you, and you obtaining insight into the difficulties you face. It considers your thoughts, emotions and relevant moments in your life. Psychotherapy aims to help you change or discover appropriate ways of managing.

Gary contacted me quickly which was comforting as I really felt like I needed help and did not know which way to turn. He found the root of the problem in the first session and helped me become aware of why I feel like I do. Gary is very professional and an experienced therapist. I thoroughly recommend him.
